Principal's Message

Greetings Hillcrest Drive Elementary & Music Magnet Community,

It is an honor to work as your partner to give our children the very best education. I believe that families have an inalienable right to the highest quality education at their neighborhood school. I aim to provide your family with a school experience that is second to none.

My relationship with Hillcrest goes back quite a number of years all the way to 2001-2002. Working at Hillcrest is like reconnecting to my roots, and brings added meaning to being the Hillcrest Elementary and Music Magnet principal. I don't take it for granted. Instead, I know that being principal at Hillcrest is a very special privilege. I am forever humbled and always grateful to have been chosen to do this work and have you entrust your most precious to me and the rest of the staff.

I view my role as an instructional leader broadly, establishing systems of practice to implement the district’s vision for All Youth Achieving. I understand that you play a critical role in this. Your engagement and involvement in Hillcrest is vital to our school’s success. I want you to be active and informed. I desire that you will become familiar with the Common Core State Learning Standards and how best to provide home support for your children achieving proficiency on the standards. I hope to enhance your understanding of culturally responsive teaching and learning and equity, and how these concepts help to ensure that our students receive all that they need to achieve outstanding academic achievement.

My focus is student learning. I am committed to continuing the work of accelerating learning by our Hillcrest scholars on their path toward college and career readiness. I will ensure that we have multiple opportunities to come together and work collaboratively throughout the year based on a shared vision of excellence for Hillcrest Elementary and Music Magnet.

I know that together we will have an exceptional 2016-2017 school year serving our children.

Love and Respect,
Anthony Jackson
